Meagan Shein is a visual artist living and working in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  She draws with pen and ink on paper painted with encaustic as well as sculpture and installation in sewn paper and plastic.   She has shown nationally and internationally including the University of Michigan; the Maya Polsky Gallery in Chicago; Gallery Project, Ann Arbor and the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids, Ml; the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art in Wilmington, DE; Miller Block Gallery, Boston, MA; the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and Staub(g*fzk!) in Zurich, Switzerland. Her work has been featured in Drawing Magazine and Encaustic Arts Magazine and reviewed in The New York Times and Time Out magazine. She received an MFA in Painting from Hunter College, an MA in Art History from Williams College, and a BA with special honors from the University of Chicago. 

In 2014 she founded Sien Collective with collaborator, Siobhán Arnold (1969-2023). The work of Sien Collective has been shown at The Charles H. Wright Museum in Detroit, MI; California Center for the Arts, Escondido, CA, Women’s Museum of CA, Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, Novato, CA; Kresge Foundation, Troy, MI; Carr Center, Scarab Club and Galleri 2987 in Detroit, MI, St. Francis University, Fort Wayne, IN; Manifest, Cincinnati, OH; California Center for the Arts, Escondido; River House Arts, Toledo, OH; Terhune Art Gallery, Perrysburg, OH; Sparks Gallery, Art Produce and Space 4 Art in San Diego.
